Dear Friends of Monserrate,

It is with great joy that we invite you to join our Picnic on the 20th of June, to celebrate together another Anniversary of our Association.

As promised, here is all the information about how our celebration will unfold:

-  Due to changes affecting the usual access road to Monserrate, please take a detour from the IC19 to the A16 (Mafra/Praias), heading towards Colares, and from there come back along the old Estrada da Rainha to Monserrate. Please disregard the no-entry sign, as it is only valid in the direction from Monserrate.

-   At the Park entrance, a member of the Association will be on hand to give each participant an admission card for the picnic (€10). Please, do not lose it, as it will enter you into a draw to win an original artwork by Diogo Muñoz.

-   As usual, there will also be a shuttle at the entrance from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, to transport participants.

-  Please, bring a blanket and your lunch, as well as comfortable footwear.

-  During the picnic, we will have our traditional Competitions, Games and Raffles:


1.    Literary Competition (for adults and children):

Gabriela Lansols phrase "_There is no better way than a garden to take us to distant lands_" is the title of the poetry book published by the Friends of Monserrate. Take the phrase as your inspiration and write a poem or a prose text.

On the day of the picnic, hand in your text – maximum 150 words, in Portuguese, English or French – to our board member Maria José Vilar. Sign it with your name and the colour of your favourite flower.


2.    Hat Competition (for adults and children) – let your imagination run free in one of the following categories:

–      Most Creative
–      Most Romantic
–      Most Exotic
–      Most Elegant

3.    Photography Competition (for adults and children):

During the picnic, photograph your favourite images with your mobile phone and send them to the following WhatsApp number: +351 967 771 408 (Matilde)


4.    There will also be the usual Raffles.


5.    Special prize for the Friend of Monserrate who brings the largest group of guests.
