Friends of Monserrate Association

Non-governmental organization founded in 1992

Recognised as an organisation of volunteers committed to promoting public awareness of Monserrate and to raising funds towards its restoration and maintenance. We carry out historical, architectural and botanical research as well as organise social and cultural activities including guided tours and lectures.

The Friends of Monserrate include an Honorary Committee, an Executive Committee and Associate Members.

The AAM aims are to raise the profile and awareness of the Palace and Gardens of Monserrate as well as funds to contribute to its restoration. It is made up of its members, an Honorary Committee and an Executive Committee.

Enquadramento Institucional

For many years, the Friends of Monserrate Association and the Parks of Sintra - Monte da Lua have been developing a constructive collaborative relationship in safeguarding and enhancing the natural and built heritage of the Monserrate Park, embodied in numerous joint public awareness initiatives. to the historical, cultural, aesthetic and environmental value of the Monserrate Park, as well as the promotion of concrete actions for the conservation of this excellent natural and cultural heritage.

This constructive collaborative relationship was formalized in 2007 by the conclusion of a Protocol between the Parks of Sintra - Monte da Lua and the Friends of Monserrate Association.
